Support Mt. View High School robotics team at their annual garage sale, November 12
The High Desert Droids, the oldest high school robotics team in Central Oregon based at Mountain View High School, is holding its annual fundraising garage sale on Saturday, November 12. The goal is to raise money for robotic parts, entrance fees to competitions, and travel costs (the student club travels to compete in regional competitions).
The team will also be accepting donations for sellable items for the garage sale on Friday, November 11th, from 4 to 7pm at the Mountain View High School cafeteria. Every little bit helps!
The garage sale itself runs from 9am to 2:30pm on Saturday in the MVHS cafeteria, and there will be a lot of items for sale.
The Droids are FRC Team 753, part of FIRST Robotics, and if you’re unfamiliar with these robotics clubs and competitions, you should really check it out! Think “BattleBots” but with less destruction and more problem solving; each year’s game is unique and presents a series of challenges for the robots. The students have to build a functional robot from scratch to perform in tournament-style competitions with other high school teams. You can find a ton of videos of matches online to see how it all works.
In addition to the upcoming garage sale, the team website has a donation page if you’re interested in supporting them.
