There is a new Japanese-themed restaurant and bar in downtown Bend, Chomp Chomp, open for about a month and a half, which is holding its (second?) grand opening this Saturday, March 14. The highlight of this event will be the appearance of actor Larry Thomas, famous for playing the “Soup Nazi” in one episode of Seinfeld, who will be on hand working a shift. I haven’t been to Chomp Chomp yet, but the menu looks good. It’s located in the space formerly occupied by La Magie Bakery, on Bond Street. And if you want a brush with celebrity, head down there Saturday to see if you can meet Thomas.
