Deschutes Brewery’s 30th anniversary week
30 years ago this week, Deschutes Brewery opened its doors in downtown Bend, making an indelible mark on Bend and the world of craft beer in general. This week, Deschutes is celebrating its 30th birthday with a week full of events, starting today (Monday, June 26) and capping the week with a big party in Drake Park.
Here’s the rundown of things happening this week:
- Monday – Super Locals’ Night at the Bend Pub starting at 4:30pm: “We’re celebrating 30 years of locals’ nights at the Bend Pub with a 1988- Throwback Shindig! Wear your old school Deschutes gear spiced up with some 80’s flare and sip on some of our classic ales.”
- Tuesday is Community Pints at all of the Deschutes locations, with $1 from every pint sold going to a local non-profit. The High Desert Food and Farm Alliance is the beneficiary this month.
- Wednesday, June 27, is the anniversary of the opening of Deschutes Brewery, and the Bend Public House is throwing its 30th anniversary party in the back alley! “Every year we throw a back-alley Bend Pub Party to celebrate our anniversary. This year is no exception, and we’re turning 30!!! To celebrate, we’re releasing Black Butte XXX… Enjoy sampler flights of Black Butte Anniversary beers from years past, food specials, and live music in the back-alley. We’ll also have our CAKE and eat it too around 7pm with speeches from the team!”
- On Thursday, the Bend Pub will be releasing the latest Black Butte Whiskey starting at 4pm. The tasting will feature one aged in port barrels and one ages in sherry casks.
- Saturday, June 30, is the big day as Deschutes takes over Bend’s Drake Park for the Party in the Park: “In addition to Deschutes favorites, we’ll have specialty beers including our anniversary series Black Butte XXX AND… Family tree collaboration beers created with Boneyard Beer, Crux Fermentation Project, Ecliptic Brewing and others being created as we type….. We’re also bringing Street Pub to the park so you can grab a beer at the 400+ ft long bar with all of your friends, there will be tethered hot air balloon rides, community art pieces, and a Silent Disco!” It starts at noon and runs until 9:30pm.
