Here’s this month’s set of meeting minutes from the Bend City Council; there were a lot of things going on this month.

In particular on the 21st, they held a public hearing on the “resolution giving the Building Official direction to limit Temporary Change of Occupancy Permits for events on private property” which you probably heard about in the news. The gist of the issue is, as I understand it, that by limiting Temporary Change of Occupancy Permits, they will be stifling events and artistic freedoms. For instance, these are directly related to outdoor concerts that take place at locations such as the Century Center; the proposal is to limit these to 3 per year.

Unfortunately the Council voted 4 to 3 to adopt the resolution… so we’ll see what happens.
