Weekend Beer News, Feb. 3
A couple of anniversaries and more going on in beer in Bend this weekend.
Worthy Brewing is celebrating their fourth anniversary—their Golden Birthday since they turn four on the 4th! They’ll be partying Saturday and Sunday with food specials, special beers, and even a commemorative glass you can buy for $6 (which includes the first fill). In addition to the re-release of their first-ever beer, Go Time Xtra Pale Ale, they have a special anniversary beer brewed up:
We’ve brewed up a special beer for Saturday .. stop by and try CrashWorthy Golden Ale! It’s described as a light bodied and crisp golden with a healthy dose of Crystal and Citra hops for a big floral and grapefruit finish. At 5.8% and 28 IBU’s, this is a well-balanced and easy drinking compliment to the GTX.
On the other side of town, Broken Top Bottle Shop is celebrating their anniversary—their fifth! Their party kicks off at 3pm on Saturday and they say:
Broken Top Bottle Shop is 5 years young! Help us celebrate 5 years in business with awesome live music and some of our favorite brews.
2 Towns Ciderhouse will be pouring samples from 3-6pm. Leadbetter & Young will open at 6pm and Upstate Trio will play from 7:30-10pm.
On tap:
Pliny the Elder IPA from Russian River Brewing Company, Return of the Mack Cider from 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Hopscotch from Crux Fermentation Project, and GingerSnap Sour from Cascade Brewing.
Shifting gears, Deschutes Brewery is holding their Brewer’s Cup Relay on Saturday starting at 3pm. Combine running and beer!
Ready to grab your friends to win your collective weight in beer, all while raising money for your favorite charity? GREAT! The format of the Brewer’s 4K Relay is simple…run 1K, drink a Pacific Wonderland Lager, and then tag your fastest drinking buddy to repeat the process. Compete as a team of 4 with each participant running the 1K lap and drinking 1 beer, or truly challenge yourself by signing up for a 2-person relay, where each participant will repeat the process twice!
If your team places first in the Brewer’s Cup Division (all team members must be currently employed at the same brewery), you’ll be able to donate 100% of the proceeds to a charity of your choice! Your name as well as the brewery your work for will also forever be engraved on our Brewer’s Cup trophy, to be held at your brewery until the following year.
There are prizes and even an after party at Crow’s Feet Commons.
Monkless Belgian Ales does “Food Truck Fridays” at their northeast Bend brewery, and today (Friday the 3rd) is no exception. They’ll have a food truck on hand from noon to 7pm:
Flights, Pints, fine Bratwurst, Belgian Frites and European Food Truck Cuisine provided by ‘We’re The Wurst’ in our cozy industrial brewery setting. Come check us out, grab a bite, have a flight and even fill a growler while you’re here.
And of course don’t forget to stock up on your favorite beer for Superbowl Sunday!
