High Gravity Extravaganza Brewfest at McMenamins, January 14
Coming up in a scant week and a half is the fourth annual High Gravity Extravaganza Brewfest taking place at McMenamins Old St. Francis School on Saturday, January 14. It starts at 1pm and runs until 10, and features 10 different McMenamins breweries pouring their high-gravity (stronger, higher alcohol) beers—as well as 14 more Central Oregon breweries, a terrific show of unity with the local beer scene.
Huddle around the four blazing firepits or wander around the property to taste all the high-gravity, big, bold ales-and cider at our fourth annual fest! Sample big beers from 14 Central Oregon Breweries, including Bend Brewing Company, Boneyard Brewing and Worthy Brewing. And 10 McMenamins Breweries will represent, including High Street Brewery, Anderson School and Roseburg Brewery.
We’ll also feature McMenamins & guest ciders — all of them to offer cold comfort in the dry desert winter.
For the first four hours, from 1 to 5, you’ll be able to meet many of the brewers behind the beers as well. And there will be live music playing in Father Luke’s Room:
4 p.m. ‘til 6 p.m.: Maxwell Friedman Trio * Jazz Funk
7 p.m. ’til 10 p.m.: Ideateam * Funk R&B
In past years, the format for this fest is a little different from the usual ticketed format: you’ll get your glass and a punchcard that specifies how many samples you get (something like 10 for $15 for the full card). Just keep track of your punchcard and there are no tokens or tickets to lose.
The full list of breweries and beers they will be pouring is here (PDF). Plan accordingly!
