50th anniversary of COCC Bend Campus
Central Oregon Community College was established in 1949 and spent its first years located in the basement of Bend High School, before establishing their Bend Campus on “the hill” (Awbrey Butte) in 1965. Accordingly, this year marks the Bend Campus’ 50th anniversary, and COCC today is celebrating that golden anniversary with a free event from 4 to 7pm.
Please join us as we celebrate COCC’s “Past, Present and Future” at the 50thanniversary of the Bend Campus.
Enjoy tours (including our new residence hall), prizes, refreshments, kids activities and a celebration honoring the Coats Family for their generous donation of the land where COCC is now located.
And The Source has a good article this week on COCC’s history, well worth a read too.
Among the activities going on during the tours and event this evening include putting together a time capsule (to be opened in another 50 years), jazz trio music from the Fine Arts program, free chair massages from the Massage Therapy students, children’s activities, desserts, and more. All in all it should be a great evening to explore the College, or revisit if you’ve ever been a student (I attended for two years, and enjoyed it).
