Thanksgiving dining around town (if you don’t have plans)
If you don’t have plans for dining at home or with family or friends fors Thanksgiving (they fell through, you don’t want to cook, whatever), there are of course a variety of options in town to check out. (Updated, see below.)
McMenamins Old St. Francis School is holding a Thanksgiving Buffet on Thanksgiving Day from noon to 6pm that will have you covered. It’s all ages and the menu looks like:
- Fresh-carved Turkey
- Fireside Port Cranberry Relish
- Roasted Pork Loin with Edgefield Cider Jus
- Poached Salmon
- Tortellini Salad
- Garlic Green Beans
- Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing & Turkey Gravy
- Fresh Fruit
- Salads
- Brandied Pumpkin Pie
- Dessert Tray
You’ll need to make reservations ahead of time (call (541) 382-5174 or email info.osf -AT- mcmenamins.com), and the cost is $28 for adults (13 and over), $16 for kids 5-12, and free for kids 4 and under.
The Pine Tavern has their Thanksgiving Day menu online and hours are from 11am to 7pm; entree choices include the traditional turkey dinner, as well as prime rib, grilled steelhead and mushroom risotto. Prices range from $27 to $36 and you can make reservations by calling 541-382-5581.
Crossings at the Riverhouse will be featuring their Thanksgiving Feast from noon to 8pm, with a lot of menu options (starting at $21.95) that will fit your turkey day cravings. Call 541-389-8810 for your reservations.
The Alpenglow Café downtown looks to be offering up Thanksgiving breakfast all morning on Thursday. I don’t know if that means a special menu or simply their usual great fare.
Izzy’s Pizza of course has their Thanksgiving buffet being offered up for $12.99 per person, and features a menu with “Brined & Smoked Turkey, Spiral Sliced Ham, Corn Bread Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Yams, Turkey Gravy, Sweet Potato Scones, Pumpkin Tarts …and items from our famous Dinner Grill Buffet.” Noon to 6pm, call (541) 382-2135 for more info.
Brasada Ranch is offering their Thanksgiving Dinner from noon to 6, priced at $39 for adults, $15 for children aged 5 to 10, and free for children 4 and under. It’s part of their larger resort Thanksgiving activities, and features “The Ranch’s very special Thanksgiving prix-fixe dinner includes signature dishes highlighting our local farmers, foragers and purveyors.” Call 541-526-6870 for reservations.
Awbrey Glen‘s annual Traditional Thanksgiving Feast runs from noon until 4pm and has probably the largest menu of choices of anyone that I’ve seen. Adults cost $27.95, kids aged 6 to 12 are $10.95 and 5 and under eat free. Call 541-317-2885 or 541-385-6011 for reservations.
Pronghorn Resort is offering two seating for their Thanksgiving Day Buffet, the first at 11:30am and the next a 2pm. “Bring the entire family to celebrate Thanksgiving at Pronghorn. Executive Chef Kevin Linde is preparing an exceptional buffet menu to delight all ages featuring Prime Rib, Turkey, Seafood, Pumpkin Cheesecake and more!” $46 for adults, $22 for kids 6 to 14 and kids 5 and under are free. Jake’s Diner is offering Thanksgiving dinner reservations for seniors; owner Lyle Hicks says, “If you are a senior and don’t have family to share the holiday with, get a reservation at Jake’s. Old fashion holiday feast with all the trimmings including pie and ice cream and your drink for $8. If you can’t make it, it can be delivered. Served with a smile from volunteers in the community who want to be your family for the day.” Or if you know a senior who doesn’t have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with, help them out with Jake’s.
