Looking for last-minute plans tonight? How about “Point Break”?
The Source Weekly is hosting their “Swayze Summer” of movies at the Old Stone Church featuring free showings of Patrick Swayze’s best movies, and tonight they are showing “Point Break”!
Here’s a smart thing to do: Go see Point Break, the 1991 Kathryn Bigelow (Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) directed surf/bank robber movie starring Keanu Reeves and one of the world’s greatest actors, Patrick Swayze.
It’s showing at 8 pm, Wednesday, July 17 at the Old Stone Church for FREE! Also, there will be BEER. Ice cold Widmer beer (and wine. and water.) Get there early and receive a free raffle ticket and chance to win lots of useful stuff from Palate, SHARC, Crow’s Feet Commons and others.
The Swayze-ness doesn’t end Wednesday—Point Break is just the first film in our summer-long tribute to the iconic actor. (Point Break is a fitting start, though. I mean, between Swayze, Gary Busey, Keanu Reeves and Anthony Kiedis (“Give it away now!”) and all the foot chases, dog punting, explosions, surfing and classic lines (see above and below), catching this classic, FOR FREE, is a no-brainer.) Stay tuned for OUTSIDERS, the next installment of the Source Weekly’s Swayze Summer film fest!
And yes, it is free.
