The Abbey Pub is changing hands
Big changes are in store for The Abbey Pub on Bend’s westside: it’s changing hands! Current owner Geoff Marlowe included this tidbit in his “draft list” email newsletter:
Finally, as some of you know I have sold the Pub and a new group of people are coming in. This is going to be exciting to see the changes that they are going to be implementing. They are going to be expanding into the space next door and adding an expansive bottle selection. So I need to drain the above kegs, thus ALL PINTS WILL BE $3.50 until the kegs are gone! I know several are getting low so if you want the best selection get on down sooner than later. Thanks for all your support over the last 2 1/2 years. Hope to see you soon.
I emailed Geoff back for some details and this is what he told me:
- It’s a group of 4 that are buying the Pub
- They will be expanding into the old WineStyles space immediately next door
- A big cooler will be installed in the new space to hold lots more bottled beer
- The name (tentatively) will be changed to “Broken Top Bottle Shop”
I’m sorry to see Geoff let go of the Abbey but I’m glad it’s not closing down entirely. I had chronicled the start of the Pub over two years ago here; he had turned the former ice cream parlor into a nice, open beer bar that always had great beers on tap and mellow atmosphere. If you get the chance—soon—stop on in to enjoy some good beer before it closes (and changes).
