The new Brew Shop and Platypus Pub
For a good couple of months now, the Brew Shop has been doing business in their new location, the former Ernesto’s restaurant building on Third Street (which I blogged about here and here). In addition to moving the homebrew supply and bottle shop, the owners also renovated and opened the basement bar as The Platypus Pub: it’s now a cozy beer bar with 15(!) taps and a food menu, a couple of dart boards and a big-screen TV.
They’ve done an amazing job of converting the space to suit their needs, and I’ve been there a number of times now—both in the brew supply portion and the pub portion. However, I hadn’t gotten around to writing up a review yet, partially because I’ve been too busy, er, enjoying the new location rather than writing about it, and partially because Spence over at the Bend Beer Blog did a good writeup that I can point to.
If you haven’t checked out The Platypus Pub yet and you like good beer, then do yourself a favor and get down there. Right now I believe they’re open 7 days a week, and you’ll always find a wide selection of good craft beer on tap.
