Garage Sale fundraiser for Robotics Team
Bend has a high school robotics team – the High Desert Droids. There are students from three local schools who participate, and the program is operated out of the Mountain View High School science department. Every year they design and build a robot then program it to compete specific tasks for a national challenge. They take their creation to two “regional” competitions. A couple of years ago they did really well and made it to the national competition.
If all this sounds sort of expensive… it is. To keep costs down for the families the team applies for grants, seeks out sponsors, and holds several fundraisers. The first one is coming up in a couple weeks.
The High Desert Droids Robotics Team’s annual garage sale fundraiser will be held at Mountain View High School on Saturday, October 22nd, 9am to 3pm.
If you already have too much stuff, you can still support them They will be accepting donated items to be sold on Friday, October 21st after 6:00 pm in the “circle drive” at Mountain View.
Here’s what they suggest:
Furniture, house wares, DVD’s, books, kid’s items, good clothing, knick knacks, etc. Please, no torn, dirty clothing or broken, dirty Christmas decorations. We pay to haul junk to the dump! Only computers/TV’s that are usable and someone would buy-no older than about 10yrs.
If you want to learn more about the team, check out the High Desert Droids website.

I’m so happy to see this – it’s a wonderful program and it is taking a long time to get the word out to the community that they even exist, let alone NEED DONATIONS! These are the kids that will shape our future – they need support and recognition!
