The Bite of Bend (2011)
This weekend the annual Bite of Bend is taking over Downtown Bend, offering up two days of food, beer, wine, music, and more. It’s taking place Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th, from 11am to 10pm and 11am to 7pm respectively.
The Sterling Savings Bank Bite of Bend is Central Oregon’s largest, most exciting and fastest-growing charity event and festival. This event is free to the public and includes activities for the whole family such as the live Top Chef competition, performance stage, beer garden, fine food and wine, the 2nd Annual Beer Run, as well as a children’s area; not to mention the many local food booths.
The music line-up includes:
- Bill Keale
- Jazz Bros!
- Lino
- The Autonomics
- Norman
- The Staxx Brothers
- Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk
- Tone Red
- Leif James
- The Pitchtones
- Anastacia
- Moon Mountain Ramblers
I haven’t seen the map yet but I’d assume the downtown street closures will follow the usual pattern: Wall Street between Greenwood and Franklin, Minnesota and Oregon from Wall to Bond Street, which would be open. (Minnesota from Bond to Lava will probably be closed as well.)
An interesting addition that I don’t remember seeing in previous years is the Northwest Spirits and Mixology Show: “Central Oregon’s chance to meet and mingle with some of the Northwest’s most exciting craft distillers and bartenders, as well as sample over 75 varieties of Whiskey, Brandy, Liqueurs, Vodka, Gin, Tequila and Rum, representing the North West and beyond.” Unlike the rest of the BoB, this will cost you $10 to enter—but it definitely sounds like it’s worth a look.
