Top Chef finalist comes to Bend (Oh… and there’s a “Diabetes Summit” too…)
Not sure what it’s all about, but there’s a “Diabetes Summit” coming to Bend. To me it’s slightly shady since it’s sponsored by a pharmaceutical company. On the other hand, Brian Malarkey – a native Central Oregonian and a “Top Chef” contestant and finalist in Season 3 – will be making an appearance.
See Top Chef finalist at free diabetes forum. The first Community Leaders’ Summit on Diabetes will be held Wednesday, September 29 at 4:00 p.m. at The Riverhouse Convention Center. The risks of diabetes will be discussed from a clinical perspective and as it affects the strength and vitality of Deschutes County. A diabetic-friendly cooking demo by celebrity chef and Bend native Brian Malarkey will be a highlight of the event. Brian was a finalist on Bravo TV’s “Top Chef”. Diabetic-friendly recipes and food samples will be distributed to all who attend. Local elected officials and community organizers will hold a public forum at 5 p.m. to hear from seniors, parents, businesses and others about diabetes best-practices.
If you’re a fan of the show, might be an opportunity to meet one of your favorite Top Chef’s. Anyone have more info about what the “Summit” hopes to accomplish, and what it’s all about?
