Bend Roots Revival 2010
In less than two weeks is what I’m pretty sure is Bend’s largest music festival, the Bend Roots Revival, now in its fifth year. Over four days, from September 23rd through the 26th, there are some 100 free performances and workshops going on that are centered on the new Century Center over on the Westside, on the corner of 14th and Commerce in the old Brightwood space.
In describing this vibrant community words such as energetic, eclectic, peaceful, hip, artsy, natural, diverse and even spiritual come to mind. For the fifth straight year, September 23-26, The Bend Roots Revival will take these words and set them to music for a four day community celebration of the performing arts.
A project of 106.7 KPOV Bend Community Radio, the Revival is a free annual event showcasing regional performers and educational workshops. Growing by leaps and bounds, this year’s event is poised to breakthrough to the next level with a move to a larger and more versatile venue, Century Center (off 14th in the heart of Bend), and the addition of several new sponsors and local supporters.
The schedule they have on the site for the four days is pretty mind-boggling; they’ve packed a lot of acts and workshops into those days. If you have even a remote interest in music (particularly the local music scene), you’ll want to check this out.
