There’s a tentative opening date for Trader Joe’s up on the north side of town: March 28. They’ve had "Bend, OR" on their Coming Soon page for awhile now, and the exterior of the building looks finished. When open, it will be the eighth Trader Joe’s in Oregon.
Tomorrow being Mardi Gras, I ran into the same problem I found last year while updating the events calendar: nothing Mardi Gras-related going on locally that I can find. Okay, that’s not entirely true; apparently both Joker’s and 541 Lounge had Mardi Gras parties on Saturday, the 2nd. That doesn’t … Continue reading
I first posted a review on La Costa Azul back in May of last year; it’s the Mexican restaurant up on Bend’s north side, on the corner of Empire Boulevard and Layton Avenue. We’ve been there a few times since then, most recently last night for dinner; here are some … Continue reading
PU.Camp is Coming: announced on the Central Oregon Web Professionals Usergroup (COWPU). PU.Camp will be a gathering for people to share and learn in an open environment. It will be an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. The format and name are inspired by BarCamp (which was … Continue reading
– With schools closed today and snow everywhere and much of the town on lockdown (not really—but the police are urging people to stay off the roads), I’m wondering how that will affect the Bend WebCon 2 going on downtown today (from 11-3). I won’t be there either way, but … Continue reading
Tipster Stanislaw Funk today let drop that the Bulletin will soon be doing something new: offering free "E-Edition" access to subscribers of their dead-tree edition. If true, it’s a step in the right direction—when we had our Bulletin subscription I often wished I could also have online access to those … Continue reading
This is sort of a mini-press release but it was a reasonable email pitch so I figured, why not. I don’t know what a Blu-Ray player goes for, but this doesn’t seem like a bad deal. Maybe someone who follows up on it could report back? Purchase your Blu-Ray player … Continue reading
A couple of things I thought I’d mention for this weekend—well, Saturday, anyway. First the Library is having their Winter Book Sale on Saturday. As usual, that runs from 10 to 4 and is located at the Library Administration Building at 507 NW Wall, in the basement. Best deals on … Continue reading
The other day when I blogged about finding Deschutes Brewery‘s The Abyss around town, I didn’t foresee the beer showing up on eBay. At least, not so soon. Seriously. Go to eBay and type in "abyss deschutes" in the search box. I did that just now, and there’s one with … Continue reading
We had lunch at the new Decoy Bar and Grill yesterday (read The Source’s review here), and I was impressed. I won’t go as in-depth as The Source did, but I will agree with their assessment that they have one of the best burgers in town (if not the best). … Continue reading
