Wild Wednesday and the Yukon River Quest @ Crow’s Feet Commons
May 25, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Crow’s Feet Commons and Oregon Wild have teamed up to educate, and share tales of epic backcountry adventures told by members of our local community. As Bendians, a love for exploring mountains, rivers, deserts and other wild places is rooted in the core of our souls. Bend is a special place filled with people who have been on epic wilderness expeditions all over the globe.
The Wild Wednesdays series is about giving local adventurers a stage to tell their stories and inspire the rest of us to face our own challenges and embark on our own journeys.
On May 25th, Karen Holm and Pam Stevenson will present “This Ain’t No Mirror Pond”, their story about competing in the Yukon River Quest, also known as the Race to the Midnight Sun, the longest canoe and kayak race in the world. The two 50-year-old women set out to prove that they weren’t washed up by setting a goal to paddle the 444 river miles between Whitehorse and Dawson in under 55 hours.
In collaboration with Oregon Wild, this series is a recurring event hosted on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
If you are an adventurer and want to share your story, please contact us and we will consider! For more information, please email ph@oregonwild.org or info@crowsfeetcommons.com
