Slightly Stoopid With special guests Tribal Seeds, Matisyahu & HIRIE @ Les Schwab Amphitheater
July 13, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm
$38An eclectic band when it comes to musical styles as well as collaborations, Slightly Stoopid, now in their second decade of making music, continues to manufacture an energizing and multifaceted sound that has been described as “a spiritual bath of positive party energy.”
Formed by multi-instrumentalists Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty, the Ocean Beach, California-based band has matured into a versatile musical ensemble consisting of drummer Ryan “Rymo” Moran; percussionist Oguer “OG” Ocon; saxophonist Daniel “Dela” Delacruz; keyboardist Paul Wolstencroft; trumpet and trombone player Andy Geib. An arsenal of guests also frequent the stage, most notably Karl Denson (Rolling Stones/Greyboy Allstars), Don Carlos, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5) and Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews Band).
Based in San Diego, rock-reggae band Tribal Seeds come at their music from a different angle, more influenced by bands like Steel Pulse and Aswad than the common touchstone of Sublime. Formed in 2005 by the Jacobo brothers, singer Steven and producer Tony-Ray, the group issued its debut album, Youth Rebellion, that same year. The album was the first of many to be released on the group’s own label, including a self-titled album in 2008 plus The Harvest from 2009.
Matisyahu and HIRIE join Slightly Stoopid’s How I Spent My Summer Vacation 2019 tour. A one-time Bend resident – shout out to MC Truth! – Matisyahu brings his distinct lyrical style to the LSA, while HIRIE blends the power of songcraft and social consciousness alongside the spellbinding qualities of reggae.
