Pop-Up Wilderness First Aid w/ Beyond The Edge Institute @ Deschutes Brewery
June 14, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Planning to hit the trails this season? Ever worry how you’d respond to a person in distress, miles from the nearest emergency vehicle?
Get ready for summer with our pop-up series on Wilderness First Aid, courtesy of our friends at Beyond the Edge. Classes are free, and come with a raffle ticket to earn prizes! All experience levels and ages welcome. Join us at our Production Facility (901 SW Simpson Ave) for a 1-hour class (schedule below). Afterwards, head up to the Tasting Room to debrief over drinks, swap your best wilderness stories, and compete for some great raffle prizes.
Bonus—attend all three classes for a chance to win a VIP tour of our Barrel Warehouse or R&D Brewhouse for you and 5 of your closest friends. (Must be 21+ and present July 19th to win.)
Class Schedule: All classes begin promptly at 5:30.
• May 31st—How to Stop Bleeding—Folks will learn how to recognize the major bleed locations, apply various types of tourniquets, and how to apply pressure to (and bandage) a wound.
• June 14th—Splints and Triage—Attendees will learn how to construct various types of immobilization devices, immobilize injured extremities, and assess circulation after a splint is applied.
• July 19th—The 10 Essentials—Students will discuss tricks of the trade for emergency items, the basic necessities to pack (and why), and proper backcountry nutrition.
