This fascinating presentation by Mark Higley, lead wildlife biologist for the Hoopa Tribe will describe how illegal trespass marijuana growing on public and tribal lands was discovered as a major threat to the pacific fisher a species currently proposed for Federal Threatened status.
Following that discovery the Hoopa Tribe, along with agency partners, have taken the lead on documenting the environmental impact of these illegal operations to wildlife populations and soil and water quality. In addition, they have begun the work of remediating sites on tribal and public land within the Trinity River watershed.
