Faces of Farming Family Fun Day benefiting Central Oregon Locavore

$10The day will begin at Oregon’s first urban farm, Fields Farms with hosts Jim and Debbie Fields. Jim, known to many as the godfather of farming in Central Oregon, will lead you on a tour of his wonderful property.
Tours will begin at 11:00am, 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Please arrive on time.
Children and their parents/caregivers will be invited to plant their own sprout in the “Farming for the Future” garden, a tribute to the critical role that local food cultivation plays in our evolution and sustainability as a society. Plus, it’s fun to get your hands dirty!
El Sancho will be onsite to serve up a yummy lunch. The menu will include signature tacos featuring local meats and veggies plus quesadillas for the small ones. (Lunch available for purchase)
Next, families will travel 5 miles east to Juniper Jungle Permaculture Farm where they will learn about bees, honey, pollination and the critical role bees play in the maintenance of a local food ecosystem.
Chris Casad, owner of Juniper Jungle Permaculture Farm, and staff show you around the farm.
Tours will begin at 12:00pm, 1:00pm and 2:00pm. Please arrive on time.
Children will see where the bees live and will be invited to make their own beeswax candles to take home. The farm tour will conclude with honey gelato courtesy of Bonta Artisan Gelato.
Each registered child will receive one scoop of gelato; parents may purchase additional gelato and all proceeds will benefit the non-profit, Central Oregon Locavore.
Families are encouraged to visit both farms however if time is especially tight there is a one farm visit option.
End your day at Worthy Brewing company at take a tour of the Worthy Hop Gardens. Show your Faces of Farming bracelet and receive 1/2 off a beer. Kids are welcome, a play area will be provided.
Tours at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm.
$10 per child for both farms,
$8 per child for one farm only
