Spork is moving into the Fox’s Billiards space
Good news for both the silver Airstream trailer/food cart Spork and the old Fox’s Billiards space next door to Cuppa Yo on Newport Avenue on the westside:
The news first hit Twitter and Facebook last night that I saw, and Spork themselves sent out an email this morning with the official word:
We just SIGNED A LEASE! On 1700 sq.feet in the old Fox’s building on Newport, right next to Cuppa Yo … ! Target open date May 1st … will be an expansion of basically exactly what we’ve been doing … counter service, fast casual, will be called Spork … many of your favorites plus some new dishes … meals and shared plates and small plates … globally-inspired cuisine … affordable price point, beer & wine with limited specialty cocktails, with a nice patio out front and year-round operations! 🙂
You might remember that Fox’s closed suddenly last August, and the space has been sitting vacant since.
This is a good fit; as a food cart only, Spork’s business is highly seasonal—they close down each winter and only operate during the spring and summer months—so having a permanent space is a logical next step. And the Fox’s location, being on the westside, is well-trafficked and well-suited to Spork’s green sustainability philosophy, putting them in good company with Chow, Kebaba, Devore’s, and Newport Avenue Market in that neighborhood.
