The next Armchair live storytelling event is coming up this Thursday, January 31, and taking place once again at the Tin Pan Theater. This “community storytelling” event is similar in concept to Ignite Bend and looks like great fun; here’s the refresher:

Similar to other storytelling series around the country including The Moth, Porchlight and Back Fence PDX, Armchair seeks to provide a space to celebrate stories and the art of storytelling. Storytellers have up to twelve minutes to tell their never-before shared, true story without props, cues or rehearsals.

The winter theme is “Exit Strategy” and there are nine speakers lined up. From the press release:

Nine storytellers will take to the stage to share a true story inspired by the Exit Strategy theme. At intermission, select audience members will also have the chance to step up for an impromptu two-minute story slam of their own.

The Exit Strategy line-up includes storytellers: Liz Erickson, Christina Thayer, Zachary Brandau, Shelby Little, Adam Craig, Anita Henderson, John Mason, Sharon Knorr and Kolby Kirk.

Because it takes place at the Tin Pan Theater, seating is (necessarily) very limited; with a limit of only 50, it’s (mostly) first-come, first-served, and it’s $6 to get in (which is the night of the event at the door). $6 is a great deal, but you need to make sure to get there early and line up ahead of time to try to secure a spot; but this time around, they are also instituting an advance ticket option, pre-selling 20 tickets for $8 apiece. Those will be available at the Tin Pan Theater starting tomorrow, the 28th, through Wednesday the 30th from 4 to 6pm only.
