New Year’s Eve happenings
Happy New Year’s Eve! We’ll be celebrating with friends, but if you don’t have anything going on yet and are looking for some ideas, here’s a rundown of some New Year’s Eve parties to check out.
McMenamins Old St. Francis School has their New Year’s Eve kicking off at 9pm with two main events: “Across The Great Divide: A Tribute to The Band” is rocking the Theater, while Harley Bourbon is playing Father Luke’s Room. If you’re already staying the night at McMenamins, both are free, otherwise they are $5 per person.
The Century Center is hosting their 3rd annual New Year’s Celebration featuring Larry and his Flask in an all-ages party (a bar is available for those over 21, of course) starting at 7pm. This looks to be a fun party, and costs $10 in advance (online here) and either $12 or 13 at the door (I’ve seen both prices posted).
2nd Street Theater invites you to “Spend New Year’s Eve with FunBobby!” at their Awesome 80’s New Years Eve Mash Up Party starting at 8pm, in what sounds like a great party as well: “Come dance to your favorite party band, FunBobby and ring in the New Year! All ages are welcome, dress in your favorite 80’s outfit and try for prizes: Biggest Hair, Rubik’s Cube Challenge, 80’s Dance Off and more. Tickets are $13 (over 21) and $10 (under 21) in advance or $15/$12 at the door, includes food, party favors and a midnight toast. Full bar and non alcoholic beverages available for purchase.” You can get tickets online here.
Maverick’s Country Bar is holding their Red Solo Cup party for the second year in a row, starting at 9pm tonight. There’s no cover (yes, it’s free) and there will be plenty of country music, prizes, and plenty of red solo cups.
The Midtown Ballroom has a New Year’s Eve “Madness at the Ballroom” starting at 8pm and featuring, “Three rooms of music including lazer-porn bass music by Nasty Nasty, Samples, Medium Troy, G.A.M.M.A, Stilldream and more. 18+.” Cost is $20-25. (via the Source).
The Liquid Lounge’s New Year’s Eve covers the nightclub circut starting at 8, with three DJs, dance floor, Bendistillery drinks, and (I think) champagne bottle service (along with reserved tables).
And it looks like the Astro Lounge has a last minute party thrown together by local favorite M.c. Mystic and starting at 9pm. (I don’t know anything else about it though.)
