So there’s this cool little under-the-radar community event called “Armchair” taking place this Thursday evening, November 8th. It’s all about live storytelling, which is to say:

Armchair is a live storytelling event told without props, slides, cues or rehearsals. Several featured storytellers will share a personal and true story no longer than 10 minutes, based on a changing theme. Two audience members will also have the chance to sign up to tell a short on-theme story.

Somewhat similar to Ignite Bend (and one of the Armchair team members also serves on the Ignite Bend committee with me) though this is a much more intimate event: taking place at Tin Pan Theater and there’s an attendance limit of 50. There are no advance tickets, it’s first-come, first-served at the door, and they cost $5. The door (and tickets) opens at 7:30pm, and the show starts at 8.

The autumn theme for Thursday’s event is “Up All Night” and in addition to the live storytelling itself, there is food and wine nearby too (from the Facebook event page):

Before the show specials: The Wine Shop will be offering $5 Hop Trip from Deschutes Brewery, Amber Ale from BrewWerks and Anderson Valley IPA. Select wine will also be on special for $7.50/glass.

Dump City Dumplings will be set up in the alley.

I think this will be a lot of fun and highly recommend checking it out if you can. Remember though: first-come, first-served, so make sure you get there early to have a spot in line.
