Company Grand’s performances are theatric in nature — the gritty sound and flamboyant costumes recall Dr. John or, perhaps more strangely, “The Muppets” house band, Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem. James and Mench write most of the band’s original songs, including the funky, acoustic-driven single “Scones,” released with an accompanying video earlier this year. Cranor, a music educator who also directs the Central Oregon Youth Orchestra, handles the charts for the band’s cover versions.
