High Desert EATs Tours returns with Beer & Beef
The High Desert Food & Farm Alliance EATs tours return with a Beer & Beef tour this Saturday, June 17.
Ever wonder how barley is turned into beer? Taste the process at Mecca Grade Estate Malt, a modern malting facility on a historic, 7th generation family farm growing barley and malting it for the brewing industry. Enjoy a light lunch with locally raised beef after touring Symon’s Beef – a family farm raising cattle, all the feed for the cattle operation and custom processing the meat.
Shutle van service departs from Sahalee Park in Madras (park in the lot on 6th Street between B + C Streets). An iced cooler will be on board the shutle van for you to keep your fresh purchases chilled throughout the tour.
Up at Mecca Grade you’ll get the chance not only to check out how malt is made for beer, but also get to sample beers made with that malt! Highly recommended.
