Powell Butte Highway road closure for roundabout construction
If you live in Alfalfa, or off of the Powell Butte Highway east of town (out towards the Bend Airport), be aware that the County will be closing the road at the Powell Butte/Alfalfa Market Road intersection for the construction of a new roundabout. From their release:
On Monday, March 21, construction crews will begin work on the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Powell Butte Highway, Neff Road and Alfalfa Market Road. A temporary bypass road will be installed on Powell Butte Highway to facilitate traffic through the project. Intermittent detour routes will be required throughout the course of the project to facilitate construction. Drivers are urged to use caution at this intersection and use alternative routes where possible.
Hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
They included a graphic to help visualize the closure and bypass road:
See, what I don’t get from this diagram is if you’re going east on Neff, or west on Alfalfa Market, and you want to keep going east or west, it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to do that, only north and south—and only then, if you’re on Alfalfa Market Road. Does Neff Road just stop?
No information on how long this will take to complete, either. Hopefully it will go quickly once they are started.
