Bend Parks and Rec is beginning the process for designing a new “Neighborhood Park” on the corner of Butler Market Road and Brinson Boulevard in northeast Bend, Butler Market Park. And they’re opening the process up to community involvement:

Since our strength lies in our community we would like the community’s help in shaping Butler Market Park. There will be several ways to be involved in the design process including answering a community questionnaire and attending public meetings.

In addition to the data gathered from the questionnaire, the district will rely on input received at public meetings during the design process. The first meeting will be held April 19th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, at the BPRD District Office Community Room, 799 SW Columbia Street. At this meeting we will present the project and the results of this questionnaire and will take input to help shape the future of Butler Market Park. Additional meetings will be held in the spring to present progress and gather feedback on conceptual designs.

Butler Market Park is classified in the district’s Comprehensive Plan as a Neighborhood Park and as such will be designed primarily to serve the nearby residents. At minimum, the new park will provide passive recreation opportunities, a children’s play area and may include off street parking.

The address of the location is 1630 NE Butler Market Road and the lot itself is about 3.6 acres in size, backing up to a canal. If you wanted to have some input on what should go there, go fill out their questionnaire.
