City Thrift (coming soon)
I noticed the big sign on Greenwood advertising “City Thrift,” a new thrift store that will be opening sometime soon (the corner of Greenwood and 2nd, in the building with the (former?) dance studio). Looking at the website it turns out to be the retail store for City Care, which is:
City Care exists to help provide sustainable housing, financial assistance and friendship to our city’s underprivileged. We do this by offering rent and utility assistance for sustainable housing and connecting people with a network of resources and partner organizations that can help empower people for sustainability for the long-term. During out application process we work to establish a livable budget for our clients and their families through monthly budgeting and financial planning. We also offer emergency aid in appropriate situations when households have utility shut off notices, emergency medical situations, and eviction notices.
Of the new store:
City Thrift is a retail store that supports City Care through the sale of gently used, wonderful treasures! We will gladly accept your donations of clothing, housewares, furniture, electronics etc. and we are happy to schedule a time to pick up large donations. All donations are tax-exempt. Also, City Thrift is always looking for volunteers to staff a shift at the store, to help sort new donations, or to help in the store beautification process. If you are interested in getting involved, drop by and fill out a volunteer application!
The thrift store hours, when they’re open, will be Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
