Three Creeks Brewing 5th anniversary
This weekend Three Creeks Brewing over in Sisters is turning 5! They’ve become such a mainstay in the Central Oregon beer scene with good beer and food that it seems like they’ve been around for more than five years (it’s easy to forget when they opened in 2008 they were only the #7 brewery here—and we’re up to 20 now!).
Tonight they plan to celebrate starting at 5pm with birthday cake and the release of their 5th Anniversary Imperial IPA, along with a firkin (cask) of their new seasonal Backpacker Brown. I don’t know what kind of cake it will be, but here’s the description of the beer:
Three Creeks 5th Anniversary Imperial IPA 7.8% ABV 99 IBU
Brewed to honor Three Creeks’ 5th Anniversary this classic Northwest Imperial IPA features 5 hop varieties (Amarillo, Chinook, Crystal, Columbus, Bravo) and 5 lbs of hops per barrel. Built around a base of Belgian Pale malt and 4 specialty malts, this Imperial IPA weighs in at 7.8% ABV to commemorate the date our first batch of beer was brewed (July 8, 2008). Dark orange in color with amazing balance, the 5th Anniversary Imperial IPA showcases a full gamut of hop flavors from citrus and fruit to resin and pine. Cheers to 5 years!
Saturday continues the celebration with an all-day raffle and plenty of Imperial IPA, of course. Sunday they are picking winners from a photo contest they’ve been running on social media.
This has been a good year for Three Creeks (well, all five have been good, really), with the second of their annual IPApril events running this spring and the launch of their “Outlaw Taps” of special vintaged, big and/or barrel aged beers earlier in the year. Even at only five years old they’re still part of what I consider to be the “old guard” of local breweries and are definitely one of the ones everyone should visit.
Try to get over there today and this weekend to help them celebrate five years, and five (and many) more!
