Munch N Music
Today is the first day of the annual Munch N Music concert series down in Drake Park. It’s free! Well, almost—you have to pay for your food and drink. But the music is free. Here’s the "three second explanation" I wrote on my other blog last year:
Thursday evenings during the summer in Bend, free concerts in Drake Park are accompanied by food and craft vendors, and a beer garden. Parking is hell.
It runs every Thursday over the next six weeks, until August 10th. Here’s the music schedule:
- July 6: Roomful of Blues
- July 13: Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons
- July 20: Katt
- July 27: Jackstraw
- August 3: Liquid Soul
- August 10: Highstreet
Interestingly, the folks over at BendNights.com also have an "unofficial" Munch N Music site… but that site comes up when you do a search online and the official one doesn’t.
Also take note that dogs are not allowed! It could cost you $500 otherwise.
I always look forward to the season of Munch and Music. I have lived in Bend for 10 years and love all that the summer has to offer. I love it even more now that I have a daughter who loves to dance to the great music! Unfortunatly those good times are over. The event has changed over the years and I doubt if I will go back. Tonight I went to the last Munch and Music of the year and decided to let my daughter go on those big inflatable things in the Merry Maids Family Fun Zone. Well it was anything but fun. In fact it was a nightmare. My daughter is three and she just enjoys jumping in the toddler area of the gig. Well it ended up with a lady yelling at my daughter and me to get the heck out of their because I our three minutes were up. I mean come on! Be a little respectful and easy going. She was yelling at all the kids like they were dogs or something. Then I tried to ask her to stop yelling and she started yelling at me! The music is great but all the frillies around the event are best to be avoided.
