Every Thursday, Newport Avenue Market over on the westside offers free beer tastings (I originally blogged about this here). From 3:30 until 6:00, you’ll find two or three beers "on tap," typically.

There’s usually some sort of theme behind the beer selection, according to Rob, Newport Market’s wine and beer guy. Last week, the day before Cinco de Mayo, they were Mike-arrita (how I think it was spelled, a margarita-flavored malt beverage from the makers of Mike’s Hard Lemonade) and Rogue Chipotle Ale.

And watch for occasional deals on schwag, too: I picked up a couple of $1 pint glasses and a $5 t-shirt a few weeks ago (and a free poster).

So mark your calendars: Thursdays at Newport Market from 3:30 til 6. Maybe I’ll see you there.
